I wish I could find SI's 1975 Sportsman of the Year piece on Rose describing how even between innings of game 7 he was pounding his glove, shouting encouragement, and willing his team to win with his energy and confidence.

Another Rose story, he goes 6 for 8 in a doubleheader. Afterwards he gets the crew to leave the lights on and is taking practice. Someone sees him and ask him what the hell he is doing. He replies, they got me out twice.

That’s my favorite Pete quote. He signed this for me last year.

As far as I am concerned it was a "lifetime ban" from baseball. With his lifetime now over, his ban is now complete, time served. Let him in.

Wow. Yesterday (Sunday) he was scheduled to appear (don't know if he did) at the Music City show in Nashville.

Default Sad day for baseball!

Pete Rose paid a very heavy price for his gambling addition.

Without question...great player...tragic outcome for bad choices.

Rest in Peace Charlie Hustle!

He was there. Thankfully he got a chance to return home rather than being found in a hotel room or similar.

Agreed. He was scheduled to be at the Chantilly show next month. He definitely was not slowing down.

Well, the lifetime ban is now over. So, put'em in the HOF.

Got no restrictions to fall back on.
