Bummer...I am sure there should be plenty of folks willing to help on the Nichol. Especially if the price is just a nickel.

Cool card...good luck with the resale.

Pretty sure I bought a Frank Delahanty thinking it was Ed Delahanty. Sucks, but it happens sometimes.

You can bet William Chappell knew that was not Kid Nichols.

I don't think the OP suggested William misled him.

Agreed.

Not suggesting that.

My point was William would not have had the card mis-priced badly on the low side due to not knowing who the card actually pictured.

William is an outstanding and fair dealer but very knowledgeable and meticulous.

Right, that's why I said before the price should have clued the OP in. Agree on William.

I'm pretty sure the Kid Nichols card is going to be substantially more than Hugh. Still not a bad card. Now you have a card of a player that holds the record for most SBs in a season!

I learned something on this thread. So Hugh Nicol = Nick Nicholl?

How much over legitimate comp pricing did you pay?

That's sort of the real essence of the problem here. If you paid Kid Nichols' money for it, then that sucks. If you paid relatively close to Nick Nicholl's money for it, then at least the problem is minor, as you will be able to sell it and recoup the cost, or close to it

Nicol also walked 86 times, but the main reason he had so many stolen bases was that the rules for what was considered a stolen base were different to the current rules.

I wish baseball was still played like in the dead ball/scatter ball era up to 1920. Plenty of doubles, triples and stolen bases meaning action(!!!) on the base paths. I hate the simply swing for the fences strategy of today.

One things for sure, things will never be the same.

JT, if you never make any mistakes, you aren't trying enough. Good luck in the quest!

and a card from simpler times......no mistaking him!
