Thanks for that! Looks like a good chance they're identifiable.

In two words - "Oh shit"

At some point the cards are going to pop up, hopefully they get the asshole(s) before they get a chance to break it up.

How does someone just walk off with 100 plus cards, even assuming whoever owns the table somehow left it unattended?

They were in the transportation case. Pelican case, Zion case. Whatever they're called. I believe packing up to leave.

The pictures and video above in the instagram post shows the distraction technique employed by the perps.

It looks like the main thief was posing as a venue employee, messing with chairs in the video.

Wow that sucks. Not a shock either. I hope he gets back his inventory. On another note, those prices are incredibly high. WOW.

This theft looks to be bigger than the ML heist this year. Very sad for the hobby.

It sucks, but no way is it bigger than ML in terms of actual value. Aspirational show prices don't count.

Watch the security video. A guy literally picked up the case and walked out.

This is one reason why larger card shows, Philly, Chantilly and the National for instance are cracking down on badges and not wanting people who are not dealers actually setup at shows walking around during setup and breakdown at the conclusion of shows.

This is during breakdown not set up. Thus, you don't need a badge at that point to be in the room.

And breaking down the tables is the most dangerous time at a show for the reason I just noted. At least during set-up with badges being hopefully monitored you have a chance of knowing who is in the room. During close out, anyone who paid admission or even comes in for the last hour or so is in the room.

Regards
Rich

At large shows you do need a badge to be in the room after the show is over.

Announcements are made at Philly and Chantilly for customers to finish deals and leave. Paul (in charge of the room at those shows) has made a point, especially at Philly, that badges are needed at shows end, even on Sunday.

At the March/November Chicago shows I wait for the rush of dealers to leave before I walk across the street to retrieve my van and drive over to load out in order to get a close parking spot to load out. I had people asked to leave that were loitering around the show after it is over.

If these idiots have any sense (guessing they don't) they will turn themselves in and return the case. They will be facing grand larceny charges and based on those surveillance videos are sure to be apprehended. Turn yourselves in and maybe you'll receive some degree of
mercy from the judge.

Ashish hang in there, you're going to come out of this ok.

These stories are become more and more common. The bad actors know where the big cards are. Be careful.
