I'm so sorry this happened. Hopefully the photos will help find some of the missing cards.

Many folks here know Ashish aka Ash.
He posted multiple videos of the perpetrators on his instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/C9I__QYs...k3NDlmdXE1OA== |

In two words - "Oh shit"
At some point the cards are going to pop up, hopefully they get the asshole(s) before they get a chance to break it up. |
How does someone just walk off with 100 plus cards, even assuming whoever owns the table somehow left it unattended?

The pictures and video above in the instagram post shows the distraction technique employed by the perps. |

Video
Watch the security video. A guy literally picked up the case and walked out.
|
This is one reason why larger card shows, Philly, Chantilly and the National for instance are cracking down on badges and not wanting people who are not dealers actually setup at shows walking around during setup and breakdown at the conclusion of shows.
|
If these idiots have any sense (guessing they don't) they will turn themselves in and return the case. They will be facing grand larceny charges and based on those surveillance videos are sure to be apprehended. Turn yourselves in and maybe you'll receive some degree of
mercy from the judge. Ashish hang in there, you're going to come out of this ok. |
These stories are become more and more common. The bad actors know where the big cards are. Be careful.

This theft looks to be bigger than the ML heist this year. Very sad for the hobby.

That security footage is probably good enough to lead to some identification, but wonder what their plan is to move a big haul like that. They must think they have some genius plan to put in motion.
Also, I’ve never seen that guy list a card at an attractive price…but apparently he’s having some good success with it. |
Murphy’s law applies with sports cards. If they can be stolen, they will be stolen. I have been a victim twice. Both times, the cards were not locked in a good safe. Since the 80s, the word has been out that cards are not cardboard toys. Thieves are targeting collectors. Theft, counterfeits, fraud, etc. there are dark forces out there, so if you value your collection, guard them with extra special care.
A careless collector and his cards will soon be parted. |

Massive theft at Dallas card show, Appears well over a Million$ worth of cards stolen
Here is his stolen post after his '52 mantle post. About 5 hours apart give or take probably an hour as Facebooks clock isn't great.
Simply put I think he took the mantles out after the show ended, listed them and then put them back in the case to go home. In theory they would be safer in the case then in an open display case that is mid tear down propped open. At least that's my thoughts. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bdfe00dc93.jpg |
Ash's prices are definitely negotiating starting points. Unlike some museum pricing he is looking to deal. Not that that has any bearing on this situation. He is one of the good guys for sure and this is just shitty.

So he's advertising the cards that were just stolen for the National? Sorry not following.

Awesome. Another post about a theft which means another post where people add their worthless 2 cents instead of focusing on the pieces of garbage that commit these crimes.

Last ill comment on this for the sake of stopping confusion. Ashsh Always advertises cards before and during shows. Today around the end of the show he sent the Mantle for sale message advertising being at the national as that was the final day at Dallas and the show just ended. And a few hours later he made the stolen post. So it all happened during breakdown NOT SETUP. That is my fault completely thinking it happened during setup and trying to piece together the times. Hope this clears up my mistake. |

You have to figure with all the tech and cameras around, they're going to get the butthead(s). Just hope it isn't divided already.
Kind of got to agree with Peter, those prices shown on the slabs is a bit "show optimistic" pricing, but none the less, it's nice stuff. Really hope they nail these a-holes. |
Dang, that's A LOT of nice cards stolen.
Hope the nail the a-holes behind the theft and get back all the cards. |

Agreed! I have completed a few deals with Ashsh and those prices are starting points and he has always been willing to negotiate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

And breaking down the tables is the most dangerous time at a show for the reason I just noted. At least during set-up with badges being hopefully monitored you have a chance of knowing who is in the room. During close out, anyone who paid admission or even comes in for the last hour or so is in the room. Regards Rich |
Remind me to never get robbed.
People might have something to say about my stickers |
The thieves knew what they were doing. If you ever travel abroad or even in a big US city you should be aware that thieves/pickpockets work in groups. There’s the distractor(s), the klepto and the lookout(s). You have to be wary about the most normal looking person.

There are pics of the perps on Facebook as well as a video - which I didn't see
Edit- just saw the video posted here a few hours ago Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk |
Damn this sucks. Ashish is a good dude and great dealer. Hoping it all works out.
