There was a thread about it in the Watercooler section last year.

Default trivia

Like some people wake up every morning and play Word-del ,
I play a new game of this every day

The challenging part is to not answer with a popular answer - for ex-

a player who played at least one game at SS...and had 3000 hits - popular answer( and a correct answer) - Jeter..... but Willie Mays once played SS..and of course had 3000 hits

The " rarer" the correct answer. The more points you get

I play the grid everyday! Whenever I am clueless I try Octavio Dotel or Edwin Jackson … they played for a lot of teams …. Rickey Henderson too

Collecting cards surely helps !

Mike Morgan is a go-to for me.

If there's a D'Back or Ray connection needed - sometimes even a Marlin or Rockie - my chances for winning go way down. Sometimes I'm surprised how little I know/remember about clubs that have been here for more than a quarter century!

I agree with the earlier commenter about trying for the most obscure - I took a stab once that Roger Bresnahan pitched in a game once, and lo and behold he had!

Morgan is good for D-backs, Mariners & Blue Jays. Todd Zeile is good for Rockies & Marlins. I use Al Simmons, Waite Hoyt, Heinie Manish and Hoyt Wilhelm a lot too.

I am like you, I do well with the original 16 teams and the newer the teams, the higher my score goes.

New personal best today - Rarity Score of 2!

And it goes without saying - just from memory.

There were no questions related to the 1993 and later expansion clubs, or awards or anything like that.

I knew collecting cards would pay off one day....

I use Todd Zeile and Al Simmons all the time too. I also use Chad Qualls, as he played for all of 4 of the recent expansion teams.

A lot of the players I use are players that played for all the teams that have a single color--like Jesse Chavez for blue teams, or Fernando Rodney for green teams.

Players that played every position like King Kelly or Bert Campaneris also come in handy.

It seems like people in general don't know a lot of the Negro League players, so I tend to do pretty well with those. Got my lowest score of 1 with some Negro League players in grid 396.
