Maury Wills was easy for me to remember because of the MVP cards Topps put out in 1975, where they had to create a Wills card from 1962 because of course Maury was not on board with Topps then. For me Wills is always drag bunting out of the left side batters box. I completely blanked on him as a switch-hitter.
Vida Blue I knew because I did a few blog posts on him when I was still actively blogging. He was committed to playing quarterback for my Houston Cougars but signed with the A's to help his family. UH recruited heavily out of Louisiana in both football and basketball back then.
