I'll make two assumptions...and at least one could possibly be wrong.

#1. They had a spotter at both events

#2. They paid a lot of money for each one of these guys to do so

As a somewhat cynical adult it just seems like yet another corporate gimmick to entice additional submissions; but if I were 10 years old again I'd probably love it.

OK thanks after reading closer this appears to be some kind of PSA program ,
Better than a card company throwing Babe Ruth’s bat into a wood chipper... I guess
