If that was the problem then there would be examples which were readable from situations where they are not in a hurry, and generally speaking there are not. The problem is a lack of respect for the collector / fan. I am aware of a rock star who many have heard of who signs legal documents in an unrecognizable scribble, but who signs autographs carefully and neatly in a way that is completely 100% always readable. Of course he seldom signs autographs, but when he does, it is a piece of art similar to the vast majority of autographs signed pre-1980 and all autographs pre-1950. |

Can't argue with your point about lack of respect. Solid evaluation. Reminds me of a time years ago at Shea Stadium after a Dodgers-Mets game whenas a young teen, I approached Junior Gilliam in the parking lot asking for an autograph and his response was "Get the F**k out of here." Now...that's lack of respect.
