That's Mrs. Ed McKeever, far right, wife of Brooklyn Dodgers/Robins owner. To my knowledge, only one of these pennants survived. Look carefully: there's actually five pennants displayed. The fifth was this one, held by the third woman from the left....

Fantastic picture, Kyle. Interesting (to me) that the NL Champs pennants appear to be all white. The Red Sox versions had a left hand panel of red. Speaking of those, when I did a google search for pictures of those, I noticed one sold in 2000 for $688
.one sold in 2007 for $1700
.one sold in 2017 for $4200. Seeing a trend, here?

Here's a super cool type 1 I just got this morning. Bucky Walters with his son holding the 1940 World championship pennant in front of their Christmas tree. I love how it's mentioned on the back slug as well.
Also cool bonus that I hadn't noticed till right now. There is some kind of Statue or Figurine on the mantel that appears to be making a jumping catch, as well as a bat laying down. ![]() ![]()

Great photo with all those Dodgers pennant. Love it. So this confirms that the blue pennant shown is from 1916 specifically. Is that new information? I mean sure we could have assume there was more reason it got produced for their pennant winning year vs. say 1914 or '15, but is this new info?
And maybe a reason there are so few of these great, old, (oversized) pennants is because they were mainly sold for the World Series? |

Looks to me to be a sewed letter (embroidered) pennant; not screen printed, like the others in the photo. Pennants from this era often get mistaken for city/travel/souvenir pennants; but this one has the crossed bats--so, if any survived the last hundred years, you'd think the finder would realize its value as a ca. 1910s Brooklyn Dodgers/Robins baseball pennant.

![]() Nilon Brothers was indeed a family owned concessionaire operating in Pennsylvania. From 1971 into the early 1980s, they ran concessions at Veteran's Stadium for the Phillies and Eagles. Their agreement included both food and souvenir sales, including pennants. I mention this because, sometime ago, we had a debate about those VET-marked pennants that surfaced around 1971 for numerous MLB teams, including the Phillies. The thought was that ASCO made these; and, "VET" was a concessionaire's mark attributable to the local company charged with selling merch at Veteran's Stadium.... Marc's discovery here, however, casts some doubt on this hypothesis, as we now know who that concessioner was; and, what their mark looked like. That said, I'm kinda surprised we've never seen or discussed this "NB" mark until now. I can't recall seeing it on a Phillies pennant. What say you, Greg?

Sadly, I don't. I've got to get my Fun Foods pins graded first. People actually do that. BTW - these three are currently available on eBay, BIN for $1.04.
edit: at a quick glance every graded Fun Foods on eBay seems to be either a 9 or a 10. Thank goodness we have "experts" out there! edit edit: The folks at PSA must get some good laughs when they're writing up invoices.

Hey Pennant Guys, I have come across a group of 21 American Nut & Chocolate felt mini pennants - they cant be more than 3x1. I have a couple of Yankee pennants among others. Same place had 15 pins. I did some research and found they are from the 50s. Was curious to the collectible value if anyone has any ideas. I put them on eBay and there is some initial interest although really have no idea if Im getting lowballed or not. Appreciate any insights. Thank you.

I saw your listing and my initial thought is your asking price is kind of high. The pennants and pins are not uncommon. Having said that, people sometimes do like to buy complete(?) sets and most of the pins look to be in excellent condition. I hope others weigh in because I am no expert on those little pennants. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. Agree my asking was high by design, because if I dont know then I just price conservatively and consider much lower offers. About to accept exactly half what I was asking for. Seems close enough and Id rather use the funds for vintage baseball cards.

Thanks Kyle. That's a great photo. I love seeing pennants in old photos.
Yep, I think he has the pennant pinned to his sweater. I'm guessing he pulled it off his bedroom wall and reused the 1941 pennant in 1949. If you look closely at the hat of the guys next to him, you'll see 2 Jackie Robinson photos pinned to the hat. So the photo is very likely from 1949.

Not really happy with how it was shipped but nonetheless, this beauty arrived today. I am not a Dodger fan per se, but you cant go wrong with a vintage pennant that pictures the Dodgers bum! I think that the creases will probably iron out.
The pennant guide says its very rare and its from when the Dodgers arrived in LA in 1958. |

|
||||

Can’t believe they would ship it like that, but excellent pickup none the less. It’s a classic early LA Dodgers pennant, and their best one post-Brooklyn IMHO.
Just use a steam iron on medium-high heat from the reverse side only. Keep the iron moving, and not in one place for too long. Place the pennant face-down on a smooth clean surface prior to ironing… preferably plain white or beige, to ensure no color migration. The creases should come out just fine, but remember to apply just a little iron contact at a time, just to be safe. Best of luck, and please show us the “before and after”.

The only way that's acceptable is if that's the way the seller found them, otherwise it's a travesty. I would guess those are "old creases." They look like that to my eyes, if that makes any sense, and I have a hard time imagining any seller pressing hard to fold a stiff pennant like that just to fit it into in a mailer. That would be stupid beyond belief. But, as we know, anything's possible.

I would follow Marc's recommendation and gently iron them out. I tend to put a cloth between the iron and the pennant for extra safety.
Here's a Dodgers WS pennant that arrived to me folded to hell like yours. A gentle steam ironing and voila.

When I got the above pennant, I proudly told fellow Giants collector Bocca that I had found a "variation." He said "duh" (not really) and sent me a pic of all the colors he has. I had always thought it only came with orange graphics. At least I now know there are some affordable pennants out there that I can look for. On a related note, Bocca and I have never seen the orange "felt" version in anything other than stiff "felt" and crappy, less detailed graphics. These remind me of the Polo Grounds pennants I see from time to time. I don't really think these are meant to deceive. Maybe just a later printing by a different maker? BTW, the orange Polo Grounds is available on ebay for the bargain price of $125.

Nice, Rob. Looks like the spines got switched on your two pennants : )
Looking for these variations keeps me entertained and I pick them up every so often when the price is right. The orange with orange spine is particularly bad with respect to quality control. Really bad cuts. They seem hastily made. I picked up this new (to me) one a few weeks ago. The cut is ok, but the pennant material is bunched near the spine. |

Are the ones with the muddied/less detailed graphics remakes? They sure look cheaper, and the stiff bunched up "felt" looks post-1970.
I know the Polo Grounds one is a remake... I'm asking about the orange ones with the people worshipping at the feet of the "Giant".

Good question, Mark. Seems to me like that Giants pennant was made for years. Maybe the poorest made ones were just at the end of the line? Some do seem post MLB licensure, so not sure whether Adflag just keep making them anyway, or if some bootleg operation started making them.
Here is the orange version of the Astros (also rather rare), with similar quality issues. Also Adflag (if I remember correctly). So that makes me wonder if there was some bootleg maker out there with an affinity for Adflag designs? Or they just ended up with the screens? Or ??? First of all, is the original "crowd at feet" Giants pennant AdFlag? It kind of seems that way, but Kyle does not show it in his blog. I actually kind of like this pennant, with the adoring crowd of men, women and a kid. All it's missing is a dog! Kyle does show Marc's Astos pennant as being AdFlag. Now, for the stiff orange things.. besides the orange "crowd at feet" and New York Giants "Giant in the Polo Grounds," there's also this one. It's a remake of a non-AdFlag (Trench?). This one is available for the bargain price of $99.99. ![]() Speaking of Kyle...I'm jonesing for some new content on Pennant Fever. I know he's busy but he teased an article on AMCO(?).

Need help from the cleaning experts on this one. Picked up this 74 team pennant the other day. Been cleaning with water / bleach mixture and so far its done pretty good at getting the brown out. Issue I have is the photo was so bad I had to cut it out and there are some stains that just won't go away. I've tried using retro clean on the stains with no luck. Before I go to just straight bleach does anyone else have a suggestion. I only paid $25 for it so if I ruin it I wont be heart broken.
