So I think Walter Johnson won MVP twice and the Babe only once because from 1911-14 it was the Chalmers Award presented by the Chalmers Automobile Company. WaJo won it in 1913 and the Babe's first year was 1914.

There was no MVP award from 1915-21. From 1922-1929, the MVP award was reinstated and became the “League Awards”, during which time, both the Babe and WaJo won only one award, because, according to the rules, a player was only allowed to receive the recognition once.

There was no award in 1930, and in 1931 Left Grove won it with a 31-4 record and 2.04 ERA (Babe Ruth finished 5th, but still probably deserved to win it). The Babe was no longer as dominant from 1932 to the end of his career in '35.

Ah ok. Probably by any objective measure and assuming no no-repeat rule he should have won 8 or more times.

He had an OPS over 200 eleven times. Have to think he would have won every one of those seasons alone.

Actually two of those 200 plus OPS years he finished 5th and 6th. Insane.

Other than the stomach ache year, he led the league EVERY year from 1919 to 1931, and had 201 in 1932.
