No wonder you believe the Matty horizontal (no red lips, please) has a lot of value. You control the market

I’m partial to the e93 at the moment as this is my nicest Matty currently. I have always liked the e98 pose but have never owned one. The horizontal has never appealed to me for some reason. cracker jacks are next level, especially the horizontal.

As others have mentioned, there is a big difference between the 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jack. Likewise, there is also a big difference between all the different versions of the E-horizontal Mathewson. There are quite a few versions that are way more difficult than the 1914 Cracker Jack. Those varities I think may have more of an upside, at least as a percentage. If someone is just looking for the front though, they can easily pick from the E92 Dockman/E101/E102/E106. Those I don't see appreciating as much.
Aesthetically, I never cared for the 1914 Cracker Jack so it is really far down my list of cards I'd want and I wouldn't pay anywhere near what they sell for even if I could afford it. IMO, it is really not that rare and it is overvalued now. I would much more prefer the 1915 or E-horizontal or E93 or E90-1 or E103 or ...

Quote:
I prefer the aesthetics of the horizontal E101, E102, etc Mathewson over the 1914 Cracker Jack. But it is hard to argue that the '14 Cracker Jack is not a rare card. PSA has graded 28 and SGC has graded 27. PSA has graded 42 Mathewson Dockman & Sons E92s, 13 Mathewson E92 Crofts Candy, 5 Mathewson Crofts Cocoa E92s, 1 Mathewson Nadja Caramel E92, 30 Mathewson E101s, 51 Mathewson E102s, 4 Mathewson E105s, 6 Mathewson T216s, 1 Mathewson D303 Mother's Bread, 16 Mathewson E106s. So that's a total of (at least) 167 horizontal E/D Mathewsons graded by PSA alone. Last edited by cgjackson222; 08-18-2023 at 08:06 AM. |
