Me personally I know longer look at the catalogs( even though many enjoy it) and I have tried stopping them from several auction houses and no luck.
In some ways it makes no sense as often I get the catalogs after the auction is open It also does not make sense that many the catalogs are not always grouped or organized (I am sure they try but as they keep getting submitted cards that they add to the auction) but online I least I can sort or search.

Believe it or not there are some true luddites out there who do not use online services. I know one collector who doesn't own a computer or even a cell phone. He lives like it is 1975 and wants paper catalogs. He still calls in bids. Dinosaurs like that are on the way out, but as long as they exist, the AHs will spend the $ on a printed catalog.
I also would prefer not to receive catalogs; just a waste of paper and gas delivering them. I've got REA's brick sitting on my desk, unopened, until I toss it into recycling tomorrow. They aren't even useful for archival research since all of the AHs have their results online anyway.

The person I corresponded with was tmitchell@robertedwardauctions.com Other auction houses allow you to opt out as well as discussed in this thread: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=334835 Last edited by cgjackson222; 08-13-2023 at 08:29 AM. |

Personally, I think people should have a way to opt out of catalogs and, since not having to mail a catalog and lower printing numbers saves the auction house money, they should get a small credit for doing so.

Huggins and Scott does or did give a credit...not sure if that is continued now with the sale of the company to REA.

It will be interesting to see how the Old Judges do in REA. Prices were strong in HA and the trend seems to be continuing. I am especially interested to see how the scarce Deacon White card does.
