Bob had a decent if not spectacular career but after his playing days when the Cubs were losing as usual in the late 50s and early 60s they decided the problem was that one manager was just not enough. So they briefly went to manager by committee and Bob was one of the committee members in 1961. But the Cubs still played like the Cubs and that experiment was quickly eliminated

Had to look that up Al, and I would have to say your absolutely correct.
 He also threw the last pitch for the Philly A's before they moved...a very random meaningless trivia answer!
