Is it me, or does it seem like in the last few years the front page has been taken over big time by posts about the business of collecting. Taxes, eBay, PSA, PWCC, vaults, fees, charges, etc etc. Not pointing fingers at anyone. And I've probably been as bad as anyone with the state of the collecting posts and where the market is going, etc. I plead guilty.
Just seems like we need more Ted Zs educating us about obscure sets and issue dates and less people bitching about fees, paying taxes, market fluctuations, etc. Last edited by Snapolit1; 11-22-2022 at 11:54 AM. |

One nice thing about this board is that it stays very active with lots of topics. Going back to the original board there have always been "Hey, did you see that card on eBay?" style posts. Lots of info is on page 2 and back. I know if I started a thread about T213-2 captions it would fly to page 2 because it is not a broad enough topic. I will talk about sets if I see something new, otherwise I read whatever others are talking about.

There’s plenty of research threads or new variations or new backs brought up; they just get 0-10 replies for the most part and disappear quickly because that’s clearly not what many people want.

It seems that a lot of the great research, and history, threads don't get much traction. A few do, but most don't.
I thought those very early auctions were awesome. So did 3 other people. Now if I said I was thinking about a Net54 NFT or something crazy, I would gets lots of feedback. It is what it is. I suggest anyone that laments, the way I do sometimes, start a good E or T card thread (other than more freaking T206s LOL)..... The back of this one is so "not" politically correct. It seems like an awkward statement today re: "Though a full blooded Indian, he is mild mannered and quiet". .... I know we have talked about it before but still... .

My understanding is that a Texas Tommy was a candy or candy bar. Has there ever been a discovery of a wrapper as I would love to see one.

Here is a link to an educational thread I started (ok, also partly showing off)
https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=312952 I tend to agree with others that educational threads tend to appeal to a niche group and they do not carry the same appeal as a more broadly-based subject like the state of the market or a TPG. For example, I would love to discuss variations on the E92 backs and why certain players have certain backs. But a thread like this would get 10-15 replies and then quickly drift to the 2nd page only to disappear. |
