Default Multiplayer rookie card trivia question

Name two Multiplayer Rookie cards from the 1970s where the players have a combined WAR of over 90, but none of them are in the Hall of Fame.

(There are probably more than two correct answers)

I’m gonna go Baylor/Dusty Baker 71 and the Oglivy + Cecil Cooper card from 72.

I am also going with AL Bumbry/Dewey Evans who as I recall is in the 60s. I don't think either Baker or Baylor had that good a WAR.

Post 2 were the two that came to find mind first, alongside 1978 #708 that clears well over 100 WAR. Murphy, Parrish, Diaz, and Whitt.

But that isn't Murphy's rookie card.

It’s a multiplayer rookie card, so I thought it counted. I know he has a 77 as well.

I had to check Whittaker’s. As he has 75.1 WAR himself and is a WAR darling, the other 3 guys didn’t have to do much to clear 90. Alas, they did not do enough.

The 78 gets an asterisk then.
I don't think there are any cards with only rookies that qualify other than the two I named.

Wow Peter, that was incredibly fast.

Dwight Evans WAR is 67.2 and Alonza Bumbry’s WAR is 24.5

Gena Tenace’s WAR is 46.8 Vida Blue’s WAR is 45.1

I just checked and it’s Oglivy cey not Cecil Cooper. Still think it could be right.

Evans/Bumbry sounds good as well.

I just came up with a rather obscure one. 77 topps Jack Clark RC, with him (53.1) Lee Mazzili (15.6) and Rupert Jones (22.6). Edit: Plus Dan Thomas (0.8)

I’m happy to be wrong if it doesn’t meet the spirit of the query.

I knew Baker and Baylor weren’t WAR darlings but I’m surprised how low they actually rank. Whitaker or Grich are worth significantly more than both of them combined. That doesn’t seem right.

I’m also surprised to see Tenace is worth more than Blue. I always think of Blue as the primary guy on that card. Nice card for how cheap it is.

I think the 75 Keith Hernandez meets the criteria again.

Jack Clark was a lot better than he gets credit for. Clever one to think of.

That's a good find, surprised Jones was that high.

Actually this card just misses. Hernandez (60.3) plus Phil Garner (29.7) get to the 90 WAR criteria and Bob Sheldon contributed an additional 0.3 WAR in his short career. Unfortunately Tom Veryzer mucks the whole thing up with his abysmal minus 3.7 career WAR in 2,848 career ABs.

However if you trim Veryzer out of the card you’re left with an altered but authentic RC from the 70s with 90.3 WAR and no HOFers.

Haha, just remove Veryzer from the card. Poor Veryzer.
