Perhaps I place too high a value on my time; however, I just scroll past those, "make me an offer" listings. My mind translates them into something along the lines of:
"...looking to find someone willing to wildly overpay...should have sold at the height of the market, regretting it now...enjoy going back and forth, trying to squeeze every last dime out of the sale...have a psychological need to "win" every deal I make...blah, blah, blah... Unless the item is unique, just post your friggin' price.

I think it works either way.
listing the price or not does not bother me. Perhaps they are looking to see what offers might be out there or perhaps they are not sure how much something might be worth and they are trying to do what is comfortable for them. IT might cause them to miss some buyers For those looking to buy if you do not see a price and what to skip it (which is your right) then just pass it. I have seen some great sellers do it both ways. To me I look and if it is something I want I reach out and if we can reach a deal all good if not we move on

Would love to see a rule making it mandatory to list a price in the B/S/T.

Its a great section no doubt
Just wish it had a mix of different sellers a bit more often While Im wishing..wish more " auctions" started at a price - " a tad " less then what the item is worth...or in many cases...min bid is worth way more then the item and my last of three wishes .... put anything 1980 or newer...somewhere else |

my $.02
on the BST board, it is very easy to manage because we're getting a few new listings a day (on the T206 sub-board) and it isn't a lot to wade through. On ebay, there are 8000+ listings (just BINs) for T206 cards, and it becomes harder to wade out non-serious listings, especially when people have them set to auto-relist after 30 days and the prices are just wildly beyond what anyone would reasonably pay. Even the biggest T206 novice isnt going to pay $500 for a PSA 3 Piedmont common. I use a website to customize ebay alerts when new items are listed, and their paid option allows you to block sellers from your results, which is very helpful when you figure out who is listing cards at unreasonable prices. That is not an issue on this board at all, thankfully. |
