I am happy it is returning to Cleveland. Six hour drive from D.C. Big open floor plan Nice big parking lot Plenty of hotels off of the 480. I stayed in Westlake last time. I have no need to socialize after the show and can fend for myself though I have friends who went to med school and law school out there who will know good restaurants. The only plusses for Chicago The parking is cheap at the CTA station lot with a 10 minute walk to Rosemont. Once you drive a few miles north on North River Rd there are plenty of restaurants and quite a few hotels that are priced a lot more reasonable than across the street. Last year I stayed at a Home2 Suites (Hilton property) about 20 minutes north at about 1/3 the price of those nearby. The restaurant area on the other side of the parking garage behind the Embassy Suites is not too bad. Some reasonable choices as long as you don't go to Fogo de Chao (I've been to the one in D.C. multiple times on the companies dime $$$). The big negative for Chicago is that it is usually Lollapalooza weekend which means traffic will be horrible if you are trying to head south. I remember taking Thatcher Ave/First Ave aka Rte 171 all the way down to Midway to get to the highway so I could head east then south to Indianapolis. That took a few hours.
