The original (or a subsequent owner) could have altered the card without the modern day 'evil intent', for example coloring in a scuff in the background.

How is the Chance altered? Obviously an original collection, yet someone altered the card? Even if it was altered, one can assume it wasn't done for monetary gain.

I agree. I do not understand how when a grading company receives 50+ original very rare cards they do not justify how they believe the card was altered. I would love to know as well. Jeff W

it looks short top to bottom, which may have been how it was cut at the factory.
