I saw this at a recent card show in Raleigh and thought it was once of the nicest mid-grade '57 Micks I'd ever seen. It carried a bit of a hefty price tag, but I thought I'd kick myself forever if I didn't buy a nice '57 before prices got even higher. I worked out a deal with the seller for this and a couple other sharp HOF '57s and a super nice raw '55 Bowman Aaron.

Did anyone here land this signed 1929 Kashin last night? Really kicking myself for missing out. Threw an early bid but time ran out before I got back to it.

Despite the bleeding and markup on the back, this is a great early sig of his. The “J”, the “F”, and the connected “Xs” are all consistent with pre-1930 when he was just starting to make a name for himself.

Hard to find centering like that on a 57 Mick, congrats Dan.

There are so many great cards in 53BC. It used to be a more popular set than it is now. Perhaps the lack of rookie cards, or the lack of names on the front, has something to do with it? Also notable omissions of Ted Mays and Jackie, I suppose.

Wow, great pickup! A centered 57T Mantle is not easy to find. Whatever you paid for the card will most likely pay off in the near future. Congrats!

Hi Jeff, just to let you know that's not my 57T Mantle, it's Dan's. But I'd love to have that card part of my collection though. Very cool card!

Dan, that 57 Mick is amazing. You could go a couple years without seeing one centered so well, let alone one that you had a chance to purchase. Great card.

This card is fantastic. I would make you a tidy profit on it if you were a flipper!
Really top notch. When you're tired of staring at it holler at your boy.

The 53B is a great selection, Peter. That was the first Mantle I ever bought. The image is just so striking in the set design's minimalism yet also the composition of that photo.

I could not resist this PSA 1. Eye appeal off the charts.

I'm over here just trying to have a nice peaceful day at work. I check out net54, and Matt is like "Ho-hum...nice cards everyone. Here's a little something I picked up... no big deal.."

WHAT A CARD! What a month of August for post war pickups.
