I've known Gar since 1966 when he visited my home when I was 16 years old!
Later he was a fixture at some of the early "conventions" as shows were known at the time. I bought my R319 of Lajoie from him for $250 if I recall correctly. Visited his house and bought some things from him about three or four years ago. Then saw him at the recent National in Atlantic City where he, John Rumeriez, Eric Lange and yours truly relived our early days in the hobby and told old war stories. Noting that we were the oldest hobbyists in terms of years collecting that were at the show. Boy, we got OLD fast!
