Thanks Jon. Pretty happy to pick these up. I’m always looking for postmarked GPC’s of Hall of Famers but they are getting harder to find.

As a fan of women in sports, I couldn't not get this. The first MLB-affiliated game coached by a woman. I bought it raw the day after the game (where it was signed) and just got it back from PSA. Not sure what warranted the 8, but whatever.

Cool Jim Tobin vintage signed card

I just picked up this vintage signed Jim "Abba Dabba" Tobin card from net54 board member Jim Stinson.

Jim Tobin had an amazing 1944 season.
He pitched two no-hit games. One was an official no-hitter, while the other was a 5-inning no-hit effort that was the 2nd game in a D/H that preceded lights in Boston.
Tobin was also a prolific HR hitter for a pitcher, hitting 17 dingers in a 10-yr. career including hitting 3 HR's in a game (MLB record) in 1942 against the Chicago Cubs.

Tobin's autograph is desirable and tough in my experience. It took me over a decade to find my first example for my advanced no-hit pitcher autograph collection.

I'm a sucker for fountain pen autographs and this beautiful (circa late 1930's) example certainly fits the bill. I'm glad to own it.

Default Great pickups Jon and Scott . . .

.

. . . hope you enjoy them as much as I have over the years.

Jon, I feel the Nig Clarke signed GPC is extra special as while there are a handful of printed name GPC in the hobby, this signed GPC and a signed team sheet cut are the only two signed examples I have personally encountered over the years.

.
Scott,
Agreed that Jim Tobin is tougher; most especially on a 3x5 or GPC.
I considered him the fourth or fifth toughest to locate of 1945 Detroit Tigers ball players (Hack Miller, Joe Hoover, Prince Oana, Jim Tobin, George Caster, …).

Don’t be fooled by all of the signed Joe Hoover items out now. Nearly all of those were mine, and accumulated over 25-30 years of collecting. Most came from an estate.

It has been fun.
