This card is the exact reason why if I buy high end vintage, I buy graded. I would not be able to tell

Fwiw I don’t think it looks good. It seems artificially aged and the pixelation around his face looks a bit wrong. I’m not 100% certain though. It’s a free opinion in any event.

I don't like the look of the edges on all 4 sides, not to mention the back seems artificially aged. I vote not genuine.

I vote fake as well; it seems artificially aged, and the illustration just doesn't look right to me.

If it helps the effort, I cobbled together four different graded versions from eBay for comparison purposes...

That actually does help. Thank you! I didn't think '49 Bowman had the dot printing, but I can see that your examples have the dot printing as well. That makes me feel better.

There's one for sale at at local show. The dealer wants $500. In the condition that it's in, I still think it's a $1500-$2000 card. I have the dealers info, so if it does end up being a fake I can go back to him.

Others commented on the back looking artificially agaed. I noticed that too, but I think something may have happened to the back to make it appear like that. It's not like that on the front.

I found some other '49 Bowman here to compare it to and it feels like the other '49 Bowmans. We'll see.

I was going to be the contrarian who said he liked it. At $500 it's a good thing I don't know where it is, or you'd never get it

So this dealer. Is he selling all his cards for 1/3 of market prices?
