When it comes to threads concerning E91 cards, I believe I am required by Net54 bylaws to post the following link:
https://net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=243920 Old Cardboard still clings, like many in the hobby, to the sweeping 'Generic' label for these cards that has been attached to E91 since the dawn of the ACC...it's an uphill battle to shake brains into focus. Here is a group shot of the 11 Athletics cards in the E91A set. Brian Last edited by brianp-beme; 09-07-2021 at 10:43 AM. |

With a focus on Washington, I am a victim of Brian's exhaustive and convincing demonstration that the images are rooted in images/renderings reflective of the actual E91-A/B players. Since the same images are used for the Washington players "featured" in E91-C, it means that the Washington images are not "generic", which would be bad enough, but instead reflect opposing team players, dressed up in Washington uniforms, which seems far worse.

Here is an example of the Joe McGinnity facial likeness as seen in the photo used on his E254 Colgan's card (the E91 card used the same photo to depict his face).

I like these but here is an example of why some people don't. My McGraw card is essentially the same as Leon's Hooper card.

This is my favorite set the I have a total of zero cards in. Debated getting into it despite the cost and talked myself out of it because my understanding is they’re generic images of players and not “real” representations of the subjects. Does it matter to folks?
