I was a kid collecting at the time…I don’t think any adults were investing in SportsTalk cards, were they?

Thanks for the post, Al. I'm really enjoying your oddball Topps collection. Especially since it comes from a period, the 1980's-1990's, where it would be easy to assume that Topps wasn't doing much. This is an excellent argument for the idea that Topps was really trying to come up with some variants that would simply be fun. Personally, I find all of these oddball items lots more fun than the present lineup of Chrome, Refractors, blue/red/pink/camo etc. that Topps is producing. I know that we have some other options, but nothing like this.

The hats are interesting- I've got a t-shirt somewhere (wish it still fit) from the 2010 Topps "Cards Your Mom Threw Out" promotion, it has a '52 Mantle on it. Got it from a Topps employee.
