I think the 75 Keith Hernandez and Fred Lynn, and maybe a 1970 Vida Blue could find a place in there too.

It is a shame that Garvey, Parker, Murphy and Hernandez aren't in while lesser players like Blyleven, Simmons, Sutter and Morris are.

Bob, I am digging the card of George Foster. He was definitely one of my favorite Reds growing up.

Seeing that Reggie Smith card reminds me. In 1981 Reggie Jackson Goose Gossage and Dave Winfield (all HOF) lost to a Dodgers team that included Fernando Valenzuela, Steve Garvey & Reggie Smith.
Not quite the 1970s, but many from that Dodgers team would qualify for the Hall of Very Good. Last edited by Vegas Cards; 07-16-2021 at 11:32 AM. |

I just happened to be in Chicago one summer day in 1979, and of course went to Wrigley, and happened to see Kingman hit a ball so far out of the stadium that it probably landed downtown.
Later when he was with the A's I saw him hit one that was described in the paper the next day as having cleared the ballpark, paid its toll on the Mass Pike and headed west. Not really a great hitter when all was said and done but man the power. I found the Fenway HR on YouTube. Probably the worst outing Clemens had that year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huDWalVTzo8

There's nothing better than watching an outfielder not even react to a blast, because he instantly knows the ball is waaaaay gone.

Imagine the "launch angle" on the Fenway HR.
