I don't usually get to swim in these waters but here's my favorite.

Got this one at a small show in the late eighties. Appling took the card looked it over, and told me a story about how much he hated those uniforms. They were thick and dark and made the players sweat buckets and the team was too cheap to give them changes between double-headers so they would just wring out the unis and put them back on for the 2nd game.

I've always liked this flash in the pan / brief career story. 27 strikeouts in his first two games.

If I remember correctly Johnny Podres got bombed in a spring training game and so he had to quickly warm up and enter the game earlier than expected. Ended up hurting his arm and was never the same.
