Congrats Andy on getting the T217 Peck - I'm very happy for you! And Ryan, I agree with the others who feel you got the blue OM at a good price. Bryan, surely there isn't a better Casey Stengel photo in existence. Lots of other great pick-ups!

Being that I am working on a master set of Sam Rice's cards, I'm beyond stoked to have won 4 of the 5 1917 Sam Rice rookie cards, including my "Holy Grail" Sam Rice RC, the D350-2 Standard Biscuit, the only one in the combined pop reports. I saw this card in the PSA pop report several years ago and assumed I'd never have an opportunity to acquire it. I also didn't have Sam's 1917 blank-back RC. The other two RCs, the H801-8 Boston Store & D328 Weil Baking, are upgrades.

I hear ya Bryan. The same pose of Sam Rice was also used for his cards in the E121 and many related sets of the early 1920's.

Val - those listings had your name written all over them! Congrats! I was considering them, but had bigger fish I was trying to fry, including a nice looking Hank O'Day OJ (another with your name written all over it). So glad you were able to grab all those Sam Rice rookies. And they all looked soooo nice!

Andy McG - congrats on the Zeenut Cochrane with Coupon. Another on my "for consideration" list. That'll look great in your collection!

I got nothing, HOWEVER, it was the catalyst for me picking up something. I was watching the Old Judge King Kelly Left Batting like a hawk. The background just makes me melt, and is probably my favorite OJ I've ever laid my eyes on.

I didn't get that one in specific, but it did light a fire under me to pick up one that was offered to me about eight months ago. I hemmed, hawed, dreamed about it, and ultimately said no...until the one popped up at REA.

So, my Kelly left batting is coming home, and I am jumping out of my skin excited!

I swung and missed at a few things in this auction...but frankly had a great time chasing and it certainly lit a fire for me. I have seen a couple responses referencing future vintage auctions coming up. I try to pay attention to the boards and really appreciate the banner ads, but I have missed a couple of auctions. Is there a site that members here use to keep track of all auctions/schedules? Much of what I see online seems to have very dated Info...but I am not the best with technology. Thanks

I picked up a baseball signed by Mantle and another by Mays in same lot. Thought I was going to get the ever elusive 1914 Cracker Jack Cobb for a great price (the only one I could afford), but fell asleep right before 12 and someone got it for an additional $250.

Looks like it was me! Although in pretty rough shape I was pleased to get it for that price.

I'm thinking that the states are amazed about the income (sales tax) that they're receiving from all the online sales.

I think I'm the one you outbid on the Standard Biscuit Rice. Incredible card and I collect Standard Biscuits but I got sucked into a war over a different card and had to make a choice. Glad it went to such a devoted collector. Those Rice rookies are just fantastic. Great job!

Default Amazed

I love reading this thread.
I'm still amazed at the treasures that this auction had and the devoted collectors that went after their targets.

Jim C, that Herp Cobb is incredible!
Micah, terrific accomplishment on the 15CJ set!
Val...as everyone here agrees, those Rice cards belong with you.
VTGMSC (Mike)...Go Joe Jax! It's great to see a Vermonter in the vintage big leagues! (I lived there until 1998)

And to all the others, fantastic!
Looks as though the Net54 board did right well in this auction!
