Only won one small lot but wow that 49 Bowman Robinson PSA 5.5 went through the roof. Nearly 10k with BP. I also dabbled in the 53 Topps signed set but quickly blown out of the water there

Some really great pickups, and thanks for the kind words (And Phil, thanks for the PM). Hank, I am not sure why the Blue OM is a 1.... the reality is, who cares about the grade, its the only Elberfeld Washington Portrait Blue Old Mill, and one of only 3 Blue Mills known to date - rarity, not grade!

I am still not convinced it should be considered a "back" - I would like a few more to emerge, that can all be linked to the same sheet, that has a sensible story as to how the black got blue; like with the Brown Old Mill, where SL Hindu switches to SL OM and they forgot to change the ink on the back. Plus, I bet we see more of these suckers start to pop up - not many, but I bet a few more people start looking at their OMs for blue ink.

Default Joe Jackson notebook

I haven't picked up much this year, but was happy to get the Joe Jackson notebook. Nice to get a playing days Jackson item that doesn't break the bank.

I picked up the Crawford Novelty Cutlery and the McGraw Felix Mendelsohn.

Tried for the Plank Novelty Cutlery to no avail.

Great pick up! I collect Speaker, and I've never seen this. Also a Reds fan, and it's got Roush on the cover. I hope my jealousy inflates your victory.

Default T3 lot

I won a lot of 14 low grade T3s that included the Tenney variation I needed to complete my T3 set. The lot went for more than I was hoping (what a surprise these days), but it was worth it to finish the set. I'll be trying to sell off the rest of the cards in the lot once I get them so anyone interested should look for them in the B/S/T listings hopefully next week.

Awesome Eddie. I’m glad now I didn’t bid on it. Sounds like it went to a great home and to an individual that truly appreciates it. Also great information on who the check was made out to. Nice.

Thanks for your kind words. Yeah the next time this will come to market is likely when my kids are selling it. Hopefully several years from now 😊. I actually had a lot of trouble sleeping last night, finally owning one of these.
As a set builder, I now have a new set to tackle as this is the first card I have from the Test issue. That is both good and bad.

Default REA - First and Last?

First time I have bid in REA auction, actually any auction than a couple on eBay and might be my last. Someone how I was out bid for an item four hours after the auction ended, or sorta ended. I just don't have 7 hours to spend refreshing a screen every 10 minutes to see if two people bidding on an item no one else care about are done so the rest of the items close.
Is this how all Sports card auctions are run or?
I'll get off my soapbox now

Extended bidding starts at 6pm which locks out anybody who doesn't have a placeholder bid on that lot. Every lot remains open to bidding between 6pm and midnight. At midnight a 10 minute clock starts on a lot-by-lot basis. If there are no higher bids in that 10 minute period you win the lot. Some auction houses forego the 6 hour time period between extended bidding and the lot by lot clock starts right away which is preferable to bidders. In the case of REA the true bidding action doesn't start until midnight.

I also saw that there was an option to sign up for text and/or email alerts in case you were outbid. I signed up but thankfully I didn't receive any notifications, so I was not able to test how effective the system was. If it weren't for that, I agree, it might be a bit onerous to have to keep checking.

The outbid text alert was invaluable during the clock while bidding on several lots.

Funny. I think I've been forced to do it, never by choice.

Thanks everyone for the input, it made me look at the auction differently now. The REAL bidding start at Midnight is good and put in high bid and go to bed is good too.
I appreciate it.
