For over 50 years, the Bluefield Orioles in West Virginia served as an Orioles affiliate. In the 80's and 90's, Bluefield had some attractive programs. Surprisingly, programs from much of that period are difficult to find.
I really like the 1991 program. The Orioles finished 36-31, in the short season Appalachian League, and were managed by Gus Gil. Bluefield averaged a little over 1600 fans per game, which I believe is pretty good for a Rookie level team. The Orioles produced five players that played in the major leagues, but only Rick Krivda played for the Orioles. The other four included Vaughn Eshelman, Scott McClain, Bobby Chouinard and B.J. Waszgis. 1991 Bluefield Program 1991 Bluefield Orioles.jpg Rick Krivda team issued photo Krivda, Rick 2.jpg Scott McClain and B.J. Day 303 (October 29, 2020 – 303)
Yesterday a couple of 1963 items were posted so I’m sticking with the theme. A small 1963 Orioles schedule calendar, around 13”x10”, put out by News-Post American. Mark,
Here you go. The Orioles printed three variations to their 1963 program and two editions of their yearbook. Cover variations are fairly common, but an updated yearbook didn't happen very often. I'm not a big fan of the oversized yearbook format the Orioles used from 1962-1965. 1963 Programs 1963 Program #1.jpg 1963 Program #2.jpg 1963 Program #3.jpg 1963 Yearbooks 1963 Yearbook (1st Edition).jpg 1963 Yearbook (2nd Edition).jpg |

I thought I would also post the programs from the Orioles 1963 minor league franchises. I have five of the six, missing Stockton.

Day 304 (October 30, 2020 – 304)
Today is my wife’s birthday so I’ll sport a Venezuelan publication that was issued on October 30th of 1970 which would have celebrated her 1st birthday at the time. I posted a Venezuelan magazine on Day 87 which I’m sure the cover shot was taken during the same time frame; I do like this cover a tad better. Man, how awesome would that shot (with the autograph) have looked on a 1972 In Action card (I mean, if the timeframe matched)?? Too bad.
If you happen to have that pic sans signature, shoot it over to me and I'll create another 'cards that never were' Brooksie example.

Happy Birthday to Pam. You are a brave man to post your wife's date of birth. The Orioles used that same pose for their 2007 and 2019 Alumni Postcards, as well as the ticket for Brooks statue unveiling, that Bill posted a few days ago. 2007 and 2019 Brooks Robinson Team Issued Postcards 2007 Postcards A02 - Copy.JPG 2019 Postcards A02 - Copy.JPG |

Day 305 (October 31, 2020 – 305)
Let’s end October with a very cool piece in my view. It’s a peel-off sticker sign that was produced by the Fasson Easy-Off Plasticsign Company that was applied to the gas pumps. Of course this example is intact and I had the piece framed to make for a better display. Day 305 Crown Pump Sticker.jpg |
