Day 304 (October 30, 2020 – 304)

Today is my wife’s birthday so I’ll sport a Venezuelan publication that was issued on October 30th of 1970 which would have celebrated her 1st birthday at the time. I posted a Venezuelan magazine on Day 87 which I’m sure the cover shot was taken during the same time frame; I do like this cover a tad better.

We’ve been to a couple of events where Brooks was signing over the years and this was from one of those visits.

Man, how awesome would that shot (with the autograph) have looked on a 1972 In Action card (I mean, if the timeframe matched)?? Too bad.

If you happen to have that pic sans signature, shoot it over to me and I'll create another 'cards that never were' Brooksie example.

Mark,

Happy Birthday to Pam. You are a brave man to post your wife's date of birth.

The Orioles used that same pose for their 2007 and 2019 Alumni Postcards, as well as the ticket for Brooks statue unveiling, that Bill posted a few days ago.

Day 305 (October 31, 2020 – 305)

Let’s end October with a very cool piece in my view. It’s a peel-off sticker sign that was produced by the Fasson Easy-Off Plasticsign Company that was applied to the gas pumps. Of course this example is intact and I had the piece framed to make for a better display.

I know I just missed the 1960 Leaf post but I completed one of the team sets I thought would be nearly impossible this week.

Day 306 (November 1, 2020 – 306)

The 1974 Topps stamps were distributed in the 10-cent wax packs and were issued on a perforated 12 player sheet. They are sometimes referred to as a “test issue” since it wasn’t available everywhere.

A parking pass where the Orioles played the Red Sox at home. Bill “Spaceman” Lee was the pitcher for the Sox and Mike Cuellar for the Orioles. Cuellar pictured a 2 hit with no ER complete game; the Orioles came out on top 1-0.

Scott,

The pump sticker is about 13" by 21" in size.

I’ve seen a few Johnny Unitas examples of this sticker, but have only seen one other example of Brooks since I’ve been collecting. So, unless they are in others collections that I haven’t seen it’s a rare Brooks Robinson piece. I’m sure there were several attached to the gas pumps back in the day, but those are long gone.

Day 307 (November 2, 2020 – 307)

I’ve probably posted some newspaper cutouts before now, but I’m sure you need to see more poorly cut out, tape laden, somewhat discolored, newspaper clippings. The 1st two are from the 1965 season and the last is from Brooks’ last year of putting on the regular season uniform prior to retirement.
