If you have these baseball players, can you post scans?
Quick reply, more to come. Two of the 1946 Montreal Royals (Royaux) championship baseball team Parade Sportive releases with Jackie Robinson. They are both on about the same size sheet. While the same photos are used, they are of different sizes. Though the "Parade Sportive / Paul Stuart" logos are the same, there is variation in the wording next them. Obviously one has an advertisement and the other doesn't. Parade Sportive developed about 15 variations in its background formats across the couple of hundred different varieties of its sports photos. It is not uncommon to find as least three different background formats used for the same photo.

Will try to post the rest of the pictures sought as soon as time permits, but knew most of you wanted to see the Robinson's.

I think "about the same size" is an overstatement, so here's a scan of the two 1946 Montreal Royals (Royaux) Championship Baseball Team Parade Sportives next to each other so you can see the relative size. Note, both refer to radio broadcasts on radio station CHLP with the left one indicating "C.H.L.P. vendiedis soirs 7 h. 30 p.m. jeudis 11-11 30 a.m." (Friday evenings 7:30 p.m. Thursdays 11-11:30 a.m.) and the right one, "CHLP tous les dimanches midis 12 30 p.m." (every Sunday noon 12:30 p.m.). [CHLP was a French-language Canadian radio station located in Montreal, Quebec which operated from December 31, 1932 to November 15, 1957.] The ad is for Auvents "Acme" (Acme Yawnings with "toutes sortes" = "of all kinds" in the lower left).

Default parade Spotives

Hello Mike:
I thought I had a complete set of these (BB only) but now I am beginning to wonder. I will look thru my binder and see what develops. Apparently there is a Robinson in "card" size as well as the larger paper size each of which I have. I also have many of the others with both ads at the bottom and without.
I too am in Nor Cal if you would like to meet up someday and compare what we have.

I am unaware of a card sized Parade Sportive. I think the confusion comes from most people not listing the size of the Parade Sportive they are showing. Likewise, I didn't give a size above. The standard size of those in the format of the Robinson pictured without the ad above is 5 x 8¼ inches, as are many others in different formats.

Over the years, even auction houses have failed to provide measurements. From the lack of information known (though they could measure their items) and that many want to sell such items to "card" collectors, I think it is easy to believe a card sized one exists. I'd sure like to see a scan of such a thing, but as yet haven't found any clear reference to them being actual "cards."

Mike

P.S. Be great to meet up, but I don't have many of these. Have a lot of other stuff though.

Mike:

My Jackie is the normal size about 8 !/4 by 5 1/2 while my card size is 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 and is on postcard stock. My records show I paid $75 plus $7 postage for it in 2004 and have a guarantee in writing from the seller in Canada that it is truly an original. The seller is/was an antique dealer at the time.

Can you post a scan? I'd love to see it.
