I think "about the same size" is an overstatement, so here's a scan of the two 1946 Montreal Royals (Royaux) Championship Baseball Team Parade Sportives next to each other so you can see the relative size. Note, both refer to radio broadcasts on radio station CHLP with the left one indicating "C.H.L.P. vendiedis soirs 7 h. 30 p.m. jeudis 11-11 30 a.m." (Friday evenings 7:30 p.m. Thursdays 11-11:30 a.m.) and the right one, "CHLP tous les dimanches midis 12 30 p.m." (every Sunday noon 12:30 p.m.). [CHLP was a French-language Canadian radio station located in Montreal, Quebec which operated from December 31, 1932 to November 15, 1957.] The ad is for Auvents "Acme" (Acme Yawnings with "toutes sortes" = "of all kinds" in the lower left).

Hello Mike:
I thought I had a complete set of these (BB only) but now I am beginning to wonder. I will look thru my binder and see what develops. Apparently there is a Robinson in "card" size as well as the larger paper size each of which I have. I also have many of the others with both ads at the bottom and without. I too am in Nor Cal if you would like to meet up someday and compare what we have. Sealmark |

Over the years, even auction houses have failed to provide measurements. From the lack of information known (though they could measure their items) and that many want to sell such items to "card" collectors, I think it is easy to believe a card sized one exists. I'd sure like to see a scan of such a thing, but as yet haven't found any clear reference to them being actual "cards." Mike P.S. Be great to meet up, but I don't have many of these. Have a lot of other stuff though. |

Mike:
My Jackie is the normal size about 8 !/4 by 5 1/2 while my card size is 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 and is on postcard stock. My records show I paid $75 plus $7 postage for it in 2004 and have a guarantee in writing from the seller in Canada that it is truly an original. The seller is/was an antique dealer at the time. Here's a couple more, Paul Calvert and Clay Hopper. I misspelled one name in my baseball list above. It should read Roy Partlow (not Portlow). He came to the Royals from the Hometown Grays and Philadelphia Stars at the same time Jackie Robinson arrived from the Kansas City Monarchs. In the 1946 Championship team photos above, Partlow is at the far left and Robinson at the far right.
![]() ![]() I'm still looking for complete copies of Parade Sportive publications entitled, PHOTOS / "CANADIENS" 1945-46 (the original edition, not the "2e Edition") and any volume of La Revue de la PARADE SPORTIVE. Looking to buy, but scans will get me through for the moment. Thanks, Mike Last edited by abctoo; 09-23-2020 at 05:02 PM. |

Hello All:
In the interest of transparency this may cause confusion. I have not looked at my Jackie postcard type card in maybe 15 years and as mentioned above have a note from the seller back in 2004 that is definitely "not a reprint". Now because we have been asked to post a scan we looked at it and at the bottom of the reverse in very tiny print is says "reprint". Now that begs the question reprint of what ? Since we have seen no other posts stating they have the postcard size card could "reprint" simply mean a card made from the standard Parade Sportive issue or a reprint of a card which may be an original ? If the latter where are they? I doubt that somebody would create just one postcard size card but who knows? Maybe. Anyway "reprint" or not I like the card and if anybody till wants a scan we will see about doing so and thanks for your interest. Sealmark |

My SWAG is that when someone figured out these were valuable they knocked out a repro to capitalize.
