Years ago, Ted Koch told me that years before that, he and a partner found a box and a half of 1933 Goudeys in the basement of an old drug store. When they got back to the hotel room, they opened the packs and threw away the wrappers and the boxes.
As far as the cards go, they had sat so long that the bubblegum had adhered to the card it was next to and even soaking them would not remove the gum without damaging the card. David
