Very interesting! It does resemble Harry Pulliam. If this image is Opening Day 1908, that might explain why the family saved it, as that was the year Chadwick died. To go further, it is reported that Chadwick died shortly thereafter from pneumonia he contracted covering Opening Day. So if in fact that is the occasion for this image, this might be Chadwick's final (baseball) photo.

If 1908, even more interesting. Will check for other sports writers this week.

Here is a colorful Cigar box label (circa 1905 - 1909) of Harry Pulliam in his "dapper duds".….. if that helps any.

Could it be Charles Ebbetts standing in the bottom row (2nd from the right in white hat) ???

Brooklyn's opponent Opening Day 1908 was Boston, owed by George and John Dovey. Here are images of Charles Ebbetts, George Dovey and John Dovey.

I looked at those three also, Corey. I don't think there's anything definitive. The two short guys in the front row sure look similar enough to be related.
The heavy guy top row left looks very familiar, too. Last edited by GaryPassamonte; 03-09-2020 at 01:46 PM. |
