How about any Bowman Hal Newhouser. He could have been in all of the sets, but he is in none.

Would have to be 49-55, because Bowman didn't know the Tigers existed in 1948.

I did create a 1940 Playball Newhouser rookie. Picture is too crisp though.

WOW...I love all these...so very cool. I love the 67 Koufax and the 75 Kaline, two that would make my list.

My list of cards I wish were made, and some I do own fantasy cards and have put them into the back of my binders, but still would have been cool if originally done -

1957 Topps Harmon Killebrew
1966 Topps Steve Carlton
1963 Fleer Mickey Mantle
1963 Fleer Pete Rose
1976 Topps Harmon Killebrew
1954 & 55 Topps Mantle

There are others already mentioned...but the 57 Killebrew being a big fan is the biggest what if. Someone here made a cool fantasy card I printed up myself and made copies, but if there were ever a real fantasy card I'd be buying...

I really like the Hal!
The Jackie Robinson is well colored. He would need to be with the Giants. I just couldn't bring myself to do it...

Yes Bob Lemke made one that way, which I have. The more I see it, the less I liked it.
I followed the words of Adam Savage "I reject your reality and substitute my own", therefore, he was never a Giant.

While we don't have a Chuck Connors (yet) from '51, he IS in our '52 set!

The fronts are easy if you have photoshop. It's the backs that take forever! That's why Bob Lemke's cards were so cool - you can tell the time and effort he spent creating the backs.

Scott,
I'm not sure you have a grasp on what I do--or if you were even responding to me. I can assure you...the fronts are not easy to do well. Original art takes time, skill, patience and a sense of humor. Although I do not specialize in existing card designs, the ones I make have different custom reverses to help identify and differentiate from their origins.
Bob Lemke's cards are, indeed, "so cool". No doubt about that. And, yes...some backs take FOREVER. For me, it's easier to create something that already existed for sure. Cartooning, stock and font match are keys to producing cards that never were. The Kaline is exceptional. The Gehrig and Ruth have varying degrees of clarity and super-imposition and don't have the Deco-Gothic font used on the original issue. Finally, the 1939 sleeve patch is a 1935-36 no-no. Fronts are not easy.
It's hard to strike a balance between the production limitations of 1935 and an attractive card--while maintaining the "feel" of an authentic vintage item.
I'll see if I have any sample backs to share.
Phil

You certainly do fine work, Phil. They're beautiful; the 1954 Bowman Hank Aaron really captured my eye.

I sure had a lot of fun doing a few fantasy cards in conjunction with my book on immediate post-war regional / food issues, NEVER CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN. With the help of an artist-photographer-computer graphic artist, I made two different versions of 1954 Wilson Franks Mickey Mantle and Jackie Robinson. Owning a genuine Wilson Roy Campanella made it easier to do. It's been almost ten years ago now, but I remember the project well.

Keep having fun doing your creations. All the best to you, sir. ---Brian Powell

Thank you! Can you post an image of the Wilson's?
