The 3-D Boog is a favorite.
I asked Boog why he was wearing #8. He said it's just a number they assigned him for a while in 1964. He didn't care as long as he was in the Big Leagues.

Wasn’t Etchebarren wearing #8 before AND after ‘64?!? Or is my memory fading...(that is a possibility).

Andy Etchebarren was with the Elmira Pioneers all during the 1964 season. He played a few games with the O's in 1962 and 1965, but was basically a rookie during the 1966 Orioles championship season.

Thanks Alan. I guess he wore #8 in at least some of the games prior to coming up for good. I know I saw an early snapshot photo of him wearing #8 prior to the '66 season.

Mark,

I think Etchebarren only wore #8 for the Orioles during the regular season, but I have this photo of him wearing #46. Spring training??? Anyone recognize the stadium in the background?

Bill,

I think you are correct, which would make sense. I just checked my 1962 spring training program and Etchebarren is listed as #46. Thanks.

I think this is the snapshot (not mine) of Etchebarren I saw with #8 that may be before 1966. What do you think?
