0-for-49 ! Ouch ! I think he needs a new hitting coach. Or maybe a vision check. Or a sports psychologist. Etc. I'm rooting for him, I hope the fans give him a standing ovation. He needs confidence.

Default The Davis Quiz

#1 - Does having Chris Davis the opposing team’s lineup increase one’s chances of throwing a no-hitter?

#2 - Under what circumstances would you intentionally walk Chris Davis?

#3 - is it legal for the Orioles to use Chris Davis as a Designated Hitter?

His skills have been deteriorating in recent years, but the slump he is in is off the charts. Maybe he simply no longer has the ability to hit major league pitching.

He must be a great fielder for him to still be in the starting line-up....maybe they can use a P to pinch hit for him later in games, at this point having an AL P pinch hitting for him would provide better odds for the O's. Or maybe he should hit right handed as an O's announcer suggested last evening.

Last night the A's were still playing with a shift on him....maybe he should swallow some pride and drop a bunt down the 3b line to get that first hit.

If I were the Orioles I'd try to shame him into retirement so the money can be spent elsewhere. Maybe a promotion for fans in attendance every time he strikes out. Maybe the games are free till he gets a hit.

+1 - now THAT's thinking outside the (batters) box!

I'd say trade him to the Giants, but I don't think Tokyo would want him either.

I'd have to think that the Orioles are getting very close to just eating that money and letting him go. As already has been mentioned, it's as bad or worse then having a horrible hitting pitcher in that spot every game for 3 or 4 at bats. If the Orioles have any illusions of competing in the American League, that's not going to cut it for them.

Have somebody else pick him up to a minor league contract and see if he can possibly work his way back........which I imagine is a long shot at this point.

There's slumps..............and then there's SLUUUUUUMPS!

He's been nearly worthless for 2+ seasons now.

Maybe an injury will occur and since his contract is likely/hopefully insured, the O's will be off the hook. He could end up having the same injury Jacoby Ellsbury has had the past few seasons.

Orioles might want to touch base with Tonya Harding in that case....

If Sandy Koufax was on-deck.

Of course, Sandy's 83 years old.

At this point I'd walk him from now on. Nobody wants to be the guy who gave up a hit to Chris Davis.

Has Bobby Bonilla finally dropped off the Mets' payroll?

The Red Sox are still paying Pedro Sandoval, but even that seems like a better deal than the O's are looking at

For the record, I went to a game at Shea Stadium in 1966 where the Dodgers beat the Mets 16-3. Sandy Koufax got the win, but amazingly he hit a single and a double- in the same inning!! You can look that one up.

I just looked it up, and on June 5, 1966, Sandy Koufax hit a single and a double in the 7th inning. That's more than Chris Davis can do in a month.

You're just plain mean. Now Davis will not get that intentional walk to boost his OBP, or should it be considered his intentional OBP (IOBP)?

The long wait is over as Davis singles in the first to drive in a run.

Two hits for CD!!! Really glad he got that off his back. He’s a really good guy and I know all this negative spotlight had to be eating away at him.

My, Oh My, how things have changed:

I, the OP, mired in next to last place in the Net54 Fantasy Challenge and looking for 'Lightning in a Bottle', I actually picked up CD off the waiver wire.

Heck, if Tiger can do it, why not?
