I picked up 17 T205s. That leaves 22 that I still need.

Is it just me, or are prices insane?
$17,322 for a Matty Portrait PSA 6.5 $13,099 for a Cobb Green SGC 4 $16,158 for a Cobb Red SGC 6.5 Or is this normal?

Also $11,000 for a Johnson Port PSA 5
$8,900 for a Young Port PSA 4 The same bidder got the Young and Matty portraits. He was the runner up on the Johnson Port. I got the Matty Black cap PSA 6 for $3,900, which I thought was a great price. And I got the Donlin Fielding PSA 6.5 for $1,200. Not cheap, but a tough card in high grade. I don't know if this is the new normal for the portraits, but if it is I know for certain that I won't be upgrading mine. |

I know the Jackie Robinson Bond Bread portrait keeps going up and up, but yikes at $3,250 for a PSA 2.

Not so long ago, I thought it was possible for a person with a moderate income to complete the T206 monster minus the big 3 in decent mid grade condition. It has now reached the point where that is not possible. Anyone with less than $25k a year of disposable income is now reduced to subsets or poor condition cards, unless they already have a huge start.

I don't know who it is. I noticed that it was the same person, and that he only had a feedback score of 86, so he's either fairly new or he doesn't buy much on ebay.

Gotcha. I looked at the bidders as the auctions neared a closing and was satisfied that the bidders were legit/the cards had not been shilled. I do think these were real sales.

And as Peter mentioned, he has 100% of his bids with PWCC. But no retractions. I agree that these were legitimate bids.

Hi Jeff, and thanks. I've been looking for a high grade Donlin fielding for about six years, and I always got outbid until last night. It's a really tough card in high grade.

So you were the one who got that card. Good for you. It really is a tough card in high grade.

Also, as per your post above, Cy Young Portrait may be the next to really climb? Looks like crazy prices for him too last night. I might grab a few more now. Last edited by MVSNYC; 01-14-2019 at 08:44 PM. |

Nice work! I went 2-6 on the t205s. Both upgrades as I keep working to improve the set! Was hoping to fare a little better but the losses went for silly pricing.

Anyone here pick up the t205 Evers? Perhaps it was an upgrade and you have an old one to sell?

Last month a Young portrait 4 sold for 3200. This month another sells for 8900. That’s a nice return.

I think only two bidders participated over 3500. One with 10 feedback, one with all PWCC activity. So it goes.

I managed to get the E92 Cy Young SGC 5. At $1528, it seemed like a steal considering some of the other prices.

I was very pleased with a pickup of a PSA 2.5 Lajoie with bat... well under comparable prices.

I bid on 3 card, were solid bids or so I thought. Got none. Like I said in the collecting focus thread, my recent focus has been outbid notices.

The Young card was not nice enough to warrant the price. The last one was. I am so glad I picked mine up at the national this year.
The green cobb is still a buy in my opinion. I think it is setting precidence for the other big time HOF portraits. It seems demand is through the roof. You can’t give money away in this country right now. It is so hard to find workers let alone quality workers. Last edited by MichelaiTorres83; 01-14-2019 at 09:52 AM. |

What? Maybe I did not connect the dots there properly.
Everyone is busy and jacking up the prices to get work done. Sometimes by double and triple what it cost last year. There are a lot of people right now making a lot of extra disposible income. I am not sure where you live but when I call 30 electricians and when I get 1 phone call back for an estimate on a multi thousand dollar job and it is priced at 300 an hour, that tells me something. I can not get a paver to call me back, a tree guy, a plumber and the list goes on. Like I said, I can not give my money away. Last edited by MichelaiTorres83; 01-14-2019 at 10:06 AM. |
