Even though I bought many cards and coins this year, I can only say I have one favorite (how could one have more than one favorite?). Anyways after watching The Sandlot a million times I knew I had to eventually get a signed Babe Ruth baseball. My budget was small which makes this a tough goal to reach, but I found one here on the board.
What makes this one so special is not only is it signed by Ruth on the sweet spot, but it is also signed by Walter Johnson on a side panel (Thank God they are PSA/DNA certified!). Not only being signed by these two legends, its a 1932-1933 William Harridge Reach OAL baseball and it's the last year for the red and blue stitches. It may not be the boldest of signatures, but knowing that they held this ball at one time is pretty cool. I'll be keeping this one away from my son's just in case they need a ball for batting practice! |

Mine aren't groundbreaking cards, but these are my favorites from 2018.
A couple E98 HOFers, my E90-1 Oakes (always wanted one of these), and I was able to add a couple new W516 Becker/Prize backs to my collection. .

Not my favorite pick up this year but it is in the top 10. The players name and the psychedelic background colors made it a must have.

Got to go with Timmy for pre-war. Almost all of my post-war pick ups were Japanese. The first black and white card is Hideo Fujimoto; it's from the first baseball card set printed after the war. He was absurdly great (0.73 ERA over 432 innings in 1943!) but had a relatively short career. The second B&W card is Fumio Fujimura, the biggest star of the Osaka Tigers. The color card is "the God of Batting" Tetsuharu Kawakami, for my money the pivotal figure in the story of Japanese baseball.
