Probably not baseball for all the reasons already mentioned.
It looks like he's got a large belt buckle - The pics are pretty small on my screen. If it is, and if the image is focused well enough that could give a clue as a lot of uniform buckles had images related to what the uniform was for. Not all tintypes have enough detail though. |

To me, including with the shoes, could possibly be a baseball player, but could be other things as well. That's why you need to equipment.
One thing to remember is that it was normal to pose with a baseball prop in a baseball tintype photo. |

First thing I though was some type of competitive rider. Motorcycle of some sort or possibly horse. Just guessing by boots and the need for what looks to be some type of early crash suit? Only taking a guess.
