In my opinion, any one (if not all) of these GOODWIN CHAMPIONS (N162) are the "elite". The artwork and the lithography on these cards is at its best.

Especially, the Mike "King" Kelly card. Note the stormy-looking clouds the artist painted behind Kelly (perhaps to match his "stormy personality").

And, did you know that Kelly is the subject of America's first "pop hit" record......the song, "Slide, Kelly, Slide".

Post WWII era

1949 LEAF baseball

Joe DiMaggio's last BB card (in a major issue). And, Satchell Paige's first BB card (in a major issue).

Default In fact...

...I think these are all iconic (in design)... absolutely stunning stuff... (yeah, I know the quality of the player is usually important in this discussion... but without the sheer beauty of the card illustration / design, what have you got?)

...also... my Giants flag is obviously flying... ha ha.

Maybe some people don't realize that it was a card, but the 1985 Nike promo card of Michael Jordan in the Jumpman pose would be right there with the Wagner T206 and 52T Mantle, IMO. The Jumpman logo that came from that card is ubiquitous.
