These are a true collectable and isn't that what this community is about? I'm not trying to be argumentative just expressing an opinion. There are other group's dedicated to military collectables where this would fit better. My main concern is the wording of no Nazi stuff to be sold on this board. I have seen multiple Nazi related item offered, previous post of similar figures, Third Reich non-sports cards, etc, without a like response. Apologies as I didn't see previous thread on this subject. Hypothetically, if a card/poster of Max Schmelling in front of a Nazi flag or a Horrors of War card of Hitler would be posted for sale would a like response be made regarding them? Understandable its apples to oranges but the rule needs clarification. Hopefully no one takes offense to my opinion, not intended. Additionally, I'm not a racist or antisemitic for collecting WWII German helmets, my main focus. Just throwing that out there. Happy hunting and collecting. Craig |

I'm not trying to stir the pot, but where is the line drawn on collectibles? The post for the Nazi figurines made me sick, but I ignored it.
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=250981 This is a link for the sale of Hitler and Mussolini cards. Are they OK to sell? http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=250405 This is a link for a KKK item. Should this be allowed? http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=248032 This is a link for a N card of Stonewall Jackson. Are confederate items allowed? Just curious, Rick

Maybe I oversimplify life, but anything intended to glorify hate is unpalatable to me. On your list above the only thing that bothers me is the KKK Pin. The Stonewall Jackson isn't a "Confederate item" as it was produced in a much more general sense as were the Horrors of war and like items. Makes sense to me anyway. I would hope people's commons sense could rule the day on this subject and if there's a grey area that leads to some debate that's not a bad thing.

At any rate I looked at all 3 of those links and don't see big issues. It is not one size fits all. That said the KKK item, had I seen it on the front end I probably wouldn't have allowed it. The OP did say he would take it down if it offended folks. Confederate items will usually be allowed, if that hurts your feelings, so sorry. And as for the cards mentioned, not much different than Horror of War cards. Other than that I don't want to see Natzi items for sale on the board, any kind of gun that still works or any live munitions. I hate censorship more than anything but these items aren't going to be sold on this board. It's just as simple as that. And if anyone sees any, I am only a PM away and will always act on situations.

I don't know how everyone around here defines "stirring the pot," but I thought Rick's questions were good ones. I'm glad he asked them, and I'm glad to have the clarification since it turns out that the ostensibly simple rule has some important exceptions.

Generally speaking I don't like rules. That is why there is not a lot of black and white rules on the board. Some things are set in stone but not specifically spelled out, such as Natzi stuff, guns, live munitions and there is more, I am sure. Do we have to say there is no pornography allowed? (as there wouldn't be) I prefer to manage by exception and not have a lot of blanket rules. Other forums operate differently. I am not sure there is a right or wrong way. .

Thanks, Leon. I appreciate your answers. I don't like the Nazi stuff or the KKK stuff, but to me, the cards that contain those items as part of the set are OK. My feeling on the Confederate items is that I don't care one way or another. I just like rules to be a little more defined, but I really am not getting my panties in a bunch over any of this.
I never thought about the pornography aspect. I will have to check into that a little closer. ![]() Thanks, Rick

I think Leon's point is there are no rules... with exceptions.

Good rule. A little common sense, people. If you think it is going to be provocative it probably doesn't belong in the BST thread here unless it is part of an overall card set that is collected. I'd not have an issue with the 1956 Adventure Schmeling card with the swastika or with any card from a set like HOW that depicts Nazis.
And if you are going to list something for sale that isn't necessarily appropriate for general viewing, please caption it with "NSFW" (Not Safe For Work). That's just chat board common courtesy.
