I don't know how everyone around here defines "stirring the pot," but I thought Rick's questions were good ones. I'm glad he asked them, and I'm glad to have the clarification since it turns out that the ostensibly simple rule has some important exceptions.

They were good questions but just stirred the pot a little. Howard (hi Howard) probably wouldn't have said that if there was no thought of it.
Generally speaking I don't like rules. That is why there is not a lot of black and white rules on the board. Some things are set in stone but not specifically spelled out, such as Natzi stuff, guns, live munitions and there is more, I am sure. Do we have to say there is no pornography allowed? (as there wouldn't be) I prefer to manage by exception and not have a lot of blanket rules. Other forums operate differently. I am not sure there is a right or wrong way.

Default Stirring the pot

Thanks, Leon. I appreciate your answers. I don't like the Nazi stuff or the KKK stuff, but to me, the cards that contain those items as part of the set are OK. My feeling on the Confederate items is that I don't care one way or another. I just like rules to be a little more defined, but I really am not getting my panties in a bunch over any of this.

I never thought about the pornography aspect. I will have to check into that a little closer.

Thanks,

Rick

Thanks for chiming in everyone. There are other venues for such items.

So if someone tried to sell a copy of Playboy #1 that would not be allowed?? I'm guessing that the "rules" are not cut and dry and there are exceptions to everyone of them.

I think Leon's point is there are no rules... with exceptions.

Yes. I would say a Playboy #1 would probably be ok. A Hustler #1 wouldn't be. One is raunchy and one isn't.

Good rule. A little common sense, people. If you think it is going to be provocative it probably doesn't belong in the BST thread here unless it is part of an overall card set that is collected. I'd not have an issue with the 1956 Adventure Schmeling card with the swastika or with any card from a set like HOW that depicts Nazis.

And if you are going to list something for sale that isn't necessarily appropriate for general viewing, please caption it with "NSFW" (Not Safe For Work). That's just chat board common courtesy.
