I think cut autos are criminal.

If you don't like the image or contents that surround the auto, don't buy the piece; someone else will.

Can't Leaf go back to selling fake autos and keep their scissor-happy hands away from these beautiful pieces of history? They should change their company name to Edward Scissorhands.

I hope the original was at least in a compromised condition to start with. Maybe half of Lou's head was missing or something.

These card companies grind up baseball bats, gloves and jerseys. I doubt there was anything wrong with that Gehrig photo. They have no sense of history, it's all about feeding the gambling addicts who buy these packs.

Makes you wonder who the owner was prior to the card company. Did they know it was going to be cut up when they let it go

Yes. Leafs executive Collection cuts are cards they make for people to send in to get a cut card made. People send in already authenticated autographs, and Leaf cuts them up and puts them in the card, then encapsulates the card.

+1

This was done by a collector at their request through the Leaf service, this card was never in a pack. Getting frustrated at this is like getting upset at a painter for the hot pink house down the street.

That's exactly what modern collecting has become: lottery scratch-off tickets. Chasing "limited" autos" and other manufactured "rarities" that are only rare because some number-stamp says they are. By the time Mike Trout is 60, he will make Pete Rose seem like a lazy signer. Having have said that, it's good that the industry is still thriving amongst young collectors, and it is nice to collect modern players you can root for. I used to watch Griffey and Frank Thomas' box scores like the NASDAC.

Actually modern superstars sign FAR less overall than Hall of Famers who toured the card show circuit in the 80s-90s.
