Back then they did, yes! It was common, mostly everyone did it. It's just not that common today that many survived with the stamps....with the Hillerich and Bradsby shipping label....with the notes on the bat.....and with legible sidewriting in grease pencil stating the players name and the date. It was a cool find for me for sure!

It sounds like it ended up with the right collector! Now I just have to find a cheap bat and try to send it by mail
