Some favorites. Might have gotten a bit carried away . . .

Fans (when?, where?)

1904 New York Giants (Matty is off taking a leak behind the fence)

Babe Magnet Ruth - "Fancy Curves"

Ty Cobb and Fans 1922

Mel Ott on the occasion of his first big league game, 1927

1928 San Francisco Seals (modern print from original glass negative)

World Series Umpires, 1928

Prince Oana letting one fly, "Aratani" team 1920s

Honolulu Braves (semi-pro?, beer league?, when?) in the dugout

Honolulu Stadium "The Termite Palace" - torn down in the seventies. Drove past the site every day and always wished it were still there.

Bennie Bengough and Annies, spring training 1920s (small snapshot)

Yankee Stadium, 1941 World Series (ground zero for the best boyhood memories)

Purdue fullback Bill Skowron

"Yer Out!!" - got your umpire, got your play at the plate, a field photog, even got a cop in the background

Ted Williams and Little Leaguers, 1952

Ol' Casey 1957

Honolulu Braves (semi-pro?, beer league?, when?) in the dugout

The Honolulu Braves were a firs-class semi-pro outfit in the late 20's-early 30's. The big guy "manspreading" is Sig Jakucki, one of the aces of the 1944 Browns. At the time this picture was taken he was either a serving US Army soldier or had just been discharged. A local baseball promoter, who I assume owned the Honolulu Braves, bought Jakucki's early release from the Army so he could play with the team. Sig was the team's most popular and talented player at the time, and the local fans all chipped in to buy him a steamship ticket back to the mainland where he was offered an Oakland Oaks tryout.

I wrote about Jakucki in my book The League of Outsider Baseball - he was a wild man and one of baseball's most interesting characters!.

If you ever want to sell this picture, please let me know, I like these obscure teams and players.

Default I Thought Maybe The Speedway Boys....

.......and Voland Furniture with the great Fred Domke could revitalize this thread. There must be hundreds of this type of pedestrian mounted photos in Net54 members closets and drawers. But maybe not much interest.
