Many similar have been on eBay recently with a cut corner like that, as well writing on them which "update" the player's team. I think I recall some even updated the player's position or name (with a nickname). Would appear that somebody back then enjoyed those cards and followed the player's progress closely, assuming the writing is from the original time period of the cards.
