CJ help please

I'm new to CJ, but otherwise familiar with pre and post war issues. I was taught a few years back to try and 'smell' the card, in efforts to determine authenticity. However, i haven't smelled anything in 2 weeks with sinus issues.

This 1915 CJ seems to have an odd paper stock. It curls when i take it out of the card saver. I doubt this card, but again, i have zero experience with them. No im not sending to sgc. Opinions please?

I'm no CJ expert but did collect a few. The 1915 stock is a bit thicker than the 14 stock, but both are very thin compared to regular cardboard stock. And, many (most?) 15's were distributed directly and not in CJ boxes like the 14's, so they will not always have caramel stains. Counterfeits are pretty easy to spot even from pics.

There's probably not much more to tell without a pic.

Could you show scans of both the front and back?

It would help in answering your question.

Thanks for the scans Wes. Definitely authentic.

I agree, which nowadays means I +1 it.

Interesting someone wrote "Minneapolis A.A." on the back of the card which is where "Yip" went when the Federal League folded after the 1915 season.

Many similar have been on eBay recently with a cut corner like that, as well writing on them which "update" the player's team. I think I recall some even updated the player's position or name (with a nickname). Would appear that somebody back then enjoyed those cards and followed the player's progress closely, assuming the writing is from the original time period of the cards.
