I agree. First post on the forum is outing a card that he "may bid" on because it is a good value?

Speaking of the card itself I do believe the value will stay at the mid $30k for a while, but I do believe there is a chance it can go higher once he is in the hall of fame. If a Lebron card can get to $300k+ it isn't too hard to imagine Jeter hasn't maxed out since some of his fans still haven't hit their max incomes.

A strange prediction since they've been at 30k plus for quite a while.

Default Some cynics

Some cynics on here just shout about every auction price they think is high is shilled and that they don't get paid for. Of course this happens but it is far from every high priced sale.

Why is it that so many PWCC cards see so much early bidding action? The card was at 33K within 2 days of being listed. It was at 30K within a day of being listed.

It's interesting. I know I've bid aggressively early when I've really wanted a card. I think it's the OPs card as that was a very weird first post, particularly if it was actually a card he was considering buying.

On a side note, it's amazing to me that this would be a 30k + card when it looks like you can get an 8 or an 8.5 for less than $500. With my eyesight, the difference in appearance is virtually non-existent.

It is not uncommon for a psa 10 to sell for 50-100x what a psa 8 would sell for. Look at any of the 70s and 8s RCs that go for 10k plus in a 10. 8s are very common, and go for 100-300.

Same with 50s and 60s, though prices are mich higher, and the multiple will often exceed 100x.

I've wondered if bidding big early is a mind game leftover from in person auctions. I've had some luck at those getting deals on items I really want that are within my budget by bidding the auctioneers opener and basically just leaving my number up till either the other bidders quit or I hit my max.
It's basically telling other bidders you're very solidly committed to buying it. And surprisingly, many will back down before hitting a reasonable price.

I've always figured it was hard to signify intent that way online, but maybe it works? I know if an Ebay item has been bid to almost what I'd be interested in spending I often abandon it in favor of a potential "deal" later on.

I've noticed this as well , in a 9 day auction it reaches the max price (imo)
With 3 day still to go. I said it before and I'll say it again I don't know who or why you would bid before the final seconds . Everyone save money on the item
This way .

I've seen others say a strategy is to go big right away, scare away some of those who would put snipes in late. It's not a strategy I use, but I can see it working.

So why does it happen so disproportionately in PWCC? For a time it was every single big card, and it may still be, I haven't checked of late.
