I've seen others say a strategy is to go big right away, scare away some of those who would put snipes in late. It's not a strategy I use, but I can see it working.

So why does it happen so disproportionately in PWCC? For a time it was every single big card, and it may still be, I haven't checked of late.

Hard to say. Obviously it could be consignors or their friends shill bidding. But how many other sellers auction high end cards any more on ebay? An actual analysis would take more time than I care to spend, but it could be that we just notice it more on PWCC because we all watch his auctions. Or perhaps some of the guys who use that go big early strategy bid on his auctions but don't search eBay for others.

I have noticed cards on big AHs that hit record prices in the first couple of days, then don't get another bid until the final day, if at all.

Agree. "Somehow" PWCC gets insane premiums for their auctions on ebay. One could pay a 10%+ premium for one of their cards vs another similar card in a different auction. This was one of my worries when I first saw the card listed with them and a reason for the post. I still think this card has no where but up and this may be one of the last cards we see in the $30K range....
